The Ancient Beauty Natural Skincare Kit

Hello people,

Finding the right skincare products for all your issues isn’t easy, if you trust only natural products to do the job. I’m delighted to introduce 100% natural natural, ayurveda based products by The Ancient Beauty.

These products can really do wonders for your skin. They are inspired from various cultures and hundreds of ancient beauty recipes.

The kit I received claims to be perfect for dry skin type, and caters to all the skin care needs – from exfoliation to cleansing and moisturizing! The packs have very distinct fragrance of various spices amazing for the skin. Also, it came in the most beautiful package I’ve ever received, and some self-care tips!

The products in the kit were: The Ancient Japanese Scrub, The Ancient Face Wash, The Ancient Illuminator, The Ancient Dew, The Ancient Massage Powder, The Ancient Body Scrub

I have been using the products for one month now and tried all the products. It was a wonderful experience using these natural and unique mix of wonderful ingredients. I’ll share my feedback of individual products with you:

The Ancient Japanese Scrub –

It’s a grainy scrub that exfoliates skin wonderfully. It is supposed to be mixed in water, though I use milk for most of my face packs and scrubs since I have extremely dry skin. The scrub removes impurities, which is very evident in the post effect! I light moisturizer post scrubbing is always advisable, more so if you have dry skin.

The Ancient Face Wash –

I use it very regularly in the mornings, for a fresh and clean look. I have made it a part of my daily skincare routine. It cleanses well and doesn’t unnecessarily dry out the skin. I slightly rub it on my face and leave it for 5-10 mins. The face wash is slightly granular too and needs to be rubbed very lightly.

The Ancient Illuminator –

This is true to its name and brings instant glow. I have been using it before going for outings and got compliments 😉 The ingredients in this pack enhance the blood circulation under skin due to which the skin glows!

The Ancient Dew –

A face pack for deep cleansing. Use it with a few drops of oil (I prefer coconut oil or Vitamin E oil) for moisturizing treat to the skin!

The Ancient Massage Powder –

The favourite most of the pack, it’s a moisturizes with tiny, soft granules. I love to use it as a creamy moisturizing scrub to cleanse all the impurities as well as moisturizing the skin, making it soft and supple. Absolutely no need for a moisturizer post this blissfully smelling lotion. The fragrance of roses with rose petals calms the skin and the senses, a must have!

Ancient Satin Body Scrub –

Smells amazing with strong fragrance of coffee and cinnamon. It’s a wonderful body scrub. It’s use of face should be avoided, as it can be a bit harsh for sensitive skin, but exfoliates the dead skin from body very well and makes it shine!

Though, I felt all the packs are slightly granular, I love how effective they are, catering to all our skincare needs, and keeping up with the claims that they make! Go grab yours soon!

The experience of buying a family car

***sponsored post***

Buying a car in India is a phenomenon. It not only involves a lot research and leg work but also multiple discussions at home. Preference, budget, expectation, safety, drive experience – all these words cross your mind when you decide to buy a new vehicle. We have recently bought a new car and the whole experience has been wonderful and full of excitement. The most excited for the new car though, was my 3-year-old daughter who has a huge crush on SUVs or “big-cars” as she likes to call them. is a great website to know everything about cars and compare them!

Since, I am fresh from being involved in the process of buying a new car, let me share some insights and steps that might come handy for you.

Prepare a budget:

You need to have an indicative budget or a range in mind, because it is very easy to get carried away with emotions. A mid/big sized vehicle can become expensive, but planning the budget, financing, payback terms etc help you to make a sound decision.

The house will always be divided on what you want from the vehicle. While the cosmetics of the car and the amount of technology it is carrying, will always guide the discussion, but certain things like space, safety, comfort should be amongst the top priority.

Space & Safety:

If kids are going to be frequent occupants of the vehicle you are buying, space and safety (apart from Style) are the two other ‘S’ factors that you should never compromise on. It’s always handy to carry some extra luggage!

Experience car before you buy:

When you are planning to buy a new one, there will be no shortage of advice. But trust me, you will know your car only once you sit in it and experience it. Never discount the touch and feel aspect of buying a car

The perfect family vehicle has to satiate expectation of more than a couple of people. It has to have something for everyone. My husband for instance wanted something with cruise control and with other automated features, I wanted something that guarantees safety and comfort and my daughter just wanted a big black car that plays her favorite poems and songs.

DIY Moringa Hair Packs – Woods & Petals Herbals

Moringa leaves are superfood for hair and skin, and are loaded with plenty of vitamins, minerals, essential amino acids. They can be used to cleanse the hair and scalp, prevent hair damage, dandruff, dry and lifeless hair. These also increase blood circulation of the scalp and boost hair growth. As the blood circulation increases, hair follicles get more nutrients, leading to strong and healthy hair.

The extract of moringa leaves is widely used in the cosmetic industry as it has many therapeutic and skin purifying properties. It removes impurities from the skin and rejuvenates it. It also enhances fairness and maintains the natural skin color.

I got a Moringa Curry Leaves Hair Pack by Woods & Petals Herbals, from Unfactory (Buy here), and tried a few DIYs – deep conditioning and oil infusion.

Oil Infusion

Coconut Oil

Vitamin E Oil

Almond Oil

Castor Oil

Moringa Curry Leaves Powder (Buy here)

The quantity of these oils is completely up to you, and also depends on the quantity you’re making.

Mix all the oils, and add moringa powder in a bottle, and let it sit for a few days. You can also strain the oil mixture in a few days, if you don’t like the powder on your hair and takes time in washing it out. However, I prefer to let it sit in the oils and apply the powder with the oils in my hair, to get the maximum benefit out of it. Apply the concoction in sections, on the scalp and the length and let it stay overnight, before shampooing in the morning.

Deep Condition Hair Mask

Coconut Milk

Moringa Curry Leaves Powder (Buy here)

Coconut milk is a great moisturizer and honey is a wonderful humectant. Mix all the ingredients together and apply on the scalp and length in sections. Wear a shower cap to let it work. You can also use a hot towel over the shower cap to provide some heat, so it works better. Wash your hair after 30-45 minutes with a mild shampoo.

Until next time!

How Motherhood Changed Me – 3 years of Sarah

Dear Sarah,

We complete 3 years together today. 3 years of loving and being loved by a teeny tiny baby, with hundreds of sloppy kisses, tight hugs and tantrums galore, 3 years of motherhood! 3 years ago I never thought I could love and care for a little minion as much. After having you, I have become 100 times more careful about the surroundings, the food we eat, the environment. My life revolves around you. From the time I wake up in the morning, till the time I sleep (or pass out at 2 am due to exertion), you are the center of my world.

I was always a very self-centered personliving in my own cocoon and extremely anti-social (including my own family ;)). Now thanks to you, I know more people than I have ever known in my whole life. People know me as Sarah’s mom, courtesy my extra-social daughter 🙂

The love has only increased, despite sleepless nights, terrible tantrums and all the mental torture (no kidding!) you make me go through while crying and shouting. Not a very patient person that I was, I happily sail through a day of tantrums, shrieking and screaming (well, not so happily, but we manage)

I used to hate cooking! But I love experimenting with healthy food for you, and it makes me happy if you approve it too J I love seeing that content look on your face when I cook something for you, and demand more of it!

I used to live in a mess! And love it too! The situation hasn’t changed much here though – ask your Papa 😀 But at least for your stuff, I try and keep it a little organized and in place, and make the surroundings better for you!

Every breath you take, every move you make” – I’ll be watching you, loving you –  this Eagle’s song summarizes our bond and my love for you!

Best Natural Remedies for Acne Scars and Blemishes!

Well nobody likes scars and blemishes and that too on face! Thankfully though, there are many things you can do at home to help get rid of them. Today I will share some easy natural treatments to help reduce theses scars and blemishes. Most importantly, keep your skin clean and eat a healthy diet because it is rightly said “you are what you eat”.

There are various natural ingredients that can be applied to get the desired results.

  • Oatmeal Face Pack:

  • Oatmeal (powdered) – 2tbs
  • Honey (raw/organic) – 2tbs
  • Lemon juice – 1tbs

  • Besan Face Pack:

  • Chickpeas/Besan flour – 2tbs
  • Turmeric – 1/4tbs
  • Yogurt – 2tbs

Note : Use regular plain, unflavored and unsweetened yogurt with live cultures.

  • Garlic Face Masks:

  • Garlic Juice – 1tbs
  • Onion Juice – 1tbs
  • Garlic Pulp/Juice – 1tbs
  • Aloe Vera Gel (preferably fresh)  – 2tbs

Note : Add few drops of plain or rose water to dilute the garlic pulp or juice to prevent the burning or stinging sensation on the applied skin if any.

  • Lemon Masks:

  • Lemon Juice (freshly squeezed) – 2tbs
  • Green Papaya Pulp – 2tbs
  • Lemon Juice (freshly squeezed) – 2tbs
  • Turmeric (dried powder) – a pinch
  • Cucumber Juice – 2tbs
  • Lemon Juice (freshly squeezed) – 2tbs
  • Cucumber Pulp/Juice – 1tbs
  • Aloe Vera pulp – 1tbs
  • Honey (raw/organic) – 1tbs

Note: You can also use fresh Aloe Vera Gel or Ripe Papaya Pulp directly on face without adding anything to them or put them together to a paste. Whatever is convenient!

  • Potato Masks:

  • Potato Juice – 2 tbs
  • Honey (raw/organic) – 1tbs
  • Potato Pulp/Juice – 2tbs
  • Lemon Juice (freshly squeezed) – 1tbs
  • Turmeric – 1/4tbs pulp or powdered
  • Tomato Face Masks:

  • Tomato Juice – 3tbs
  • Honey (raw/organic) – 1tbs
  • Tomato Juice – 2tbs
  • Buttermilk – 1tbs
  • Onion Face Mask:

  • Onion Juice – 2tbs
  • Honey (raw/organic) – 1tbs

Combine the ingredients to make a smooth paste. You can always adjust the consistency.  Apply the pack on your face and leave until it dries completely or just about to dry. You can re-apply the masks a couple of times. Before washing the pack, massage the face in circular motion using fingertips. Rinse with normal water and moisturize your face.

These face packs/masks will help you to clear acne, acne scars, blemishes,  skin discoloration, hyper-pigmentation and brighten skin complexion as well. Absolutely natural and healthy for the skin saving the pain of nasty peels, skin bleaching or any harsh chemical process.

Additionally I would recommend to go light on using cosmetic products on face during acne breakout.  Choose your products with care and use paraben-free skincare and do not use products with synthetic dyes.

Try on these simple home remedies and enjoy its benefits. However, if you still don’t get enough time to try these remedies don’t worry. Our body is capable of taking care of scars and eventually they’ll fade. However, if you expose them too much in the sun, their healing process will slow down and the scars could darken or become permanent. So moderate sun exposure for the time being and always use sunscreen for better protection.

Take care you guys.

A Lehenga is for all Seasons and Ocassions

The festive season is here and the wedding season is about start too. It is that time of the year when you are looking for a dress for all occasions. For some, this could be an exciting exercise and for others getting your favorite look or the lehenga and style could be quite hassle – what to buy, where to buy, how to accessorize it. All in all, the next 150 days present an opportunity to make your mark on the circuit by stepping out in your best ensembles.

While some of you might head to your favourite boutique, others might find it convenient and quicker while shopping online.

Lehengas have been quite a favorite amongst the Indian women and even some firangs. A good lehenga is a dress for all occasions and with a bit of innovation and hard work, they can be the go to dress for pretty much any occasion. It’s an extremely versatile piece of clothing that can be paired with different cholis, kurtis, capes, tops and dupattas and please don’t even get me started on accessories and make-up.

Look stylish at a Diwali Party

Pair a solid coloured lehenga, maroon , black and bottle green are my favourites – with an earthy colour with some embellishments and you’re all set to rock the party. Go for light fabrics given the weather as well as durations of these Diwali parties. Throw in some non-precious metal jewellery to complete the look.

A family get together that you weren’t going to be part of

We have all been there. You weren’t going to be a part of that get-together at a relative/friend’s place and hence didn’t plan your dress for it. Well, no worries. Look through your wardrobe or even your mother’s for a pastel skirt. Pair it with a western top. A dull pink would go with practically any color. Once again the right accessories and hair-do will go long way in completing your look.

That special evening event

While this one may require investment in terms of time, you could do some online shopping on Myntra to for a quick fix. Something sequinned or with embellishments is what you need. Pair it with something in golden or silver to get that chic look.

The one for weddings

Dressing up can be very subjective. But given it’s 2017 and I have been through florals, sequins and heavy embellishments – my latest indulgence is fabrics… especially rich weaves and heavy, pure fabrics like brocades, Banarasi silks, Kanjeevarams and pure silks. It looks great for all occasions and ages, and is versatile and classy. There are no constraints in terms of fabrics you choose. Pick an absolutely pure Mysore silk and Banarasi lehenga like this amazingly regal one.

Like I said before, lehengas are versatile; they can be paired practical with different clothing items, accessories for different looks. One can dress up for fancy occasions as well as dress down for simpler gatherings. Most important – lehenga has a feminine charm that’s quite unmatched. Lehengas would generally never go waste… they are for all seasons and occasions!!

My Review:

The cream is soft, thick and buttery. It rubs into the skin making it soft and hydrated for hours. My daughter has extremely dry skin. Since this cream claims to treat the symptoms of eczema, including dry skin, I wanted to give it a try for the winters. The cream is extremely moisturizing and gets absorbed well into the skin, without making it sweat.

  • None

It is a nice day cream which lightly moisturizes the skin and get absorbed quickly providing hydration throughout the day. The radiant cream has a sweet fragrance that lingers for some time and keeps the skin feeling fresh. However, in hot and humid weather, it might make the skin sweat a bit, but that could be because of the SPF content.

What works:

  • It has natural ingredients like Oatmeal, Grapefruit extracts, Vitamin F

  • Keeps skin hydrated for the whole day

  • It can make skin a little sweaty in hot weather

Healthy Veggie Pasta Recipe for Kids

Are you worried that your toddler isn’t eating well and healthy? Do you try to sneak in veggies in his/ her meals? And does he/ she still manages to find them and throw them out? Then we are of the same tribe who strive to feed their kids as healthy meal as possible.

We all know by now that a healthy meal isn’t something a toddler will naturally like. Heck even I don’t like healthy stuff 😀

Researching and trying different recipes made me successful in my pursuit one day, when I made a healthy, full of invisible veggies pasta.

1 cauliflower

2-3 florets Broccoli and/or 1 Zucchini

2 cups pasta

10-12 pods garlic

Cheese – Processed or mozzarella

Oregano Seasoning

Olive oil

Parsley for garnishing

Boil pasta, with some salt and olive oil. On the other burner, steam chopped cauliflower, broccoli and/ or zucchini and garlic in a cooker. Once the veggies are cooked, let them cool a bit and grind them to a smooth paste. I also like to add a bit of parsley leaves, but it’s completely optional.

Pasta Sauce

Heat oil in a wok, and roast some more garlic. Pour the cauliflower sauce and let it boil. Now, add some cheese to this hot cauliflower sauce. You can use any type of cheese, in any quantity you like. I add cheese to suppress the taste of cauliflower and fool the toddler! HAHAHA!!! I’ve used Amul’s processed cheese cubes and also mozzarella cheese, and both have served the purpose excellently. Add salt and any seasoning you like. I add seasoning again for the same purpose of disguising the taste J Mix pasta to the sauce. Garnish with some parsley leaves if you wish, which will be picked and definitely kept in your plate 😉 But let’s be happy we managed to feed cauliflower, broccoli and zucchini to our kids.
