DIY Moringa Hair Packs – Woods & Petals Herbals

Moringa leaves are superfood for hair and skin, and are loaded with plenty of vitamins, minerals, essential amino acids. They can be used to cleanse the hair and scalp, prevent hair damage, dandruff, dry and lifeless hair. These also increase blood circulation of the scalp and boost hair growth. As the blood circulation increases, hair follicles get more nutrients, leading to strong and healthy hair.

The extract of moringa leaves is widely used in the cosmetic industry as it has many therapeutic and skin purifying properties. It removes impurities from the skin and rejuvenates it. It also enhances fairness and maintains the natural skin color.

I got a Moringa Curry Leaves Hair Pack by Woods & Petals Herbals, from Unfactory (Buy here), and tried a few DIYs – deep conditioning and oil infusion.

Oil Infusion

Coconut Oil

Vitamin E Oil

Almond Oil

Castor Oil

Moringa Curry Leaves Powder (Buy here)

The quantity of these oils is completely up to you, and also depends on the quantity you’re making.

Mix all the oils, and add moringa powder in a bottle, and let it sit for a few days. You can also strain the oil mixture in a few days, if you don’t like the powder on your hair and takes time in washing it out. However, I prefer to let it sit in the oils and apply the powder with the oils in my hair, to get the maximum benefit out of it. Apply the concoction in sections, on the scalp and the length and let it stay overnight, before shampooing in the morning.

Coconut Milk

Coconut milk is a great moisturizer and honey is a wonderful humectant. Mix all the ingredients together and apply on the scalp and length in sections. Wear a shower cap to let it work. You can also use a hot towel over the shower cap to provide some heat, so it works better. Wash your hair after 30-45 minutes with a mild shampoo.

Until next time!

Bouquet of benefits with Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV)

There has been much talk about the miraculous benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar (cool ones prefer ACV), but the trick they say is in doing it right. While its benefits can range from diabetes control to teeth cleaning to weight loss and control of dandruff – one must always be aware on how to use this, as at the end of the day, ACV like other types of vinegar is an acid to one’s body.

Always remember:

  1. Dilute it – This makes it more suitable for consumption. Thumb rule is 1 or 2 table spoons in a glass of water
  2. Drink it empty stomach – and not with a belly full, as it has different effects on different kind of food in your system

Now, here are some amazing things that ACV can do for you, if you are doing it right.

Weight loss

This is one of the major reasons for ACV’s popularity today. Making it a part of a weight loss diet is advisable, but this cannot work in isolation. Exercise and keeping a calorie count will always come in handy. But a spoon of ACV in water first thing in the morning will aid in metabolism. You can also sprinkle some on the veggie salads that you are consuming.

Now this is where ACV is a one stop shop. Pimple Acne, Dark Stops – if you use it correctly, ACV can help you get rid of most of your skin problems. While some will claim that its application has anti-ageing benefits; I will not go that far. Remember, dilution is the key. Go for a 1:8 ratio, while using it for skincare purposes.

Fights dandruff

Dandruff is a common but annoying scalp condition. It can be caused by overly oily or dry skin, or a fungus called malassezia. And here, ACV can be great for for your dandruff problem. The vinegar’s acidity changes the pH of your scalp and also has antibacterial properties. Dilute ACV with equal parts water in a spray bottle. Spritz onto your scalp evenly. Then wrap your head with a towel. After letting it sit in for at least 15 minutes, wash as usual. For best results, do this process twice a week.

Fresher breath

A lot of people use vinegar as a mouthwash. It has great antibacterial properties. The handy acetic acid kills bacteria. Dilute it and take it with a straw preferably. And wait at least half an hour before brushing your teeth afterward. This will protect your teeth while still giving you the benefit of a fresher breath.

Gets rid of smelly feet

ACV is great for a fresher breath as well as fresh feet too. Get a few paper towels, moisten them with ACV and wipe you’re feet gently with them. Do the same and clean your arm pits as well to get rid of body odor, especially on those hot and humid days.

Stay tuned for more posts on how to use ACV for skin and hair!

Wonder Hair: Argan Oil Hair Pack

Hey girls and guys 🙂

How are you doing??

To treat my heavily damaged, frizzy and brittle hair due to chemical treatments, I’ve been trying DIY treatments at home, scared to go to the salon again. Oiling, mixing different oils, using hair packs, I have tried them all. However, this particular oil hair pack suited me so well, making my hair feel like it I just took a hair spa; smooth like butter, couldn’t feel the frizz and repeated use improved the texture and reduced hairfall.

I’m going to share this magic recipe with you, the easiest recipe with just 3 ingredients.

2 tablespoons coconut oil (I recommend using extra virgin cold pressed coconut oil for all purposes)

2 teaspoons argan oil (Buy it here – Redolence)

3-4 drops of lavender essential oil (optional – I love it when my hair smell nice) (Buy it here – Redolence)

Melt the coconut oil using a double boiler, and mix in all the other oils. It will be a nice amber green color. Apply in on the length of your hair, and a little on the scalp too. I suggest covering it with a shower cap leaving it for the night, to help retain all the oils and let them work!

Argan Hair Pack

Wash your hair with a mild shampoo in the morning, and voila! You have your own home spa with the simplest ingredients and no fuss method.

And the best part about this pack, you can use it on your skin. It hydrates and moisturizes you skin and has anti ageing properties!

For hair loss and dandruff, slightly tweak this recipe – add peppermint and tea tree essential oils. However, don’t keep this oil pack for more than half an hour. Use it regularly, about twice a week, for a month and see the difference!

Let me know if these packs worked for you!
